R Baby Helps Sponsor Sepsis Week at Morristown Medical Center

Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Medical Center

On Monday, May 1 2017, R Baby Foundation joined Dr. Gamallo along with doctors, nurses and families to kick off Sepsis Week at Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center. Sepsis kills close to 5,000 children in the United States every year. It results from an infection caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Because there is no confirmatory test, diagnosing sepsis is based on evidence of infection and clinical judgment. Early detection is crucial, followed by aggressive treatment to prevent serious long-term health complications or death. R Baby Foundation has funded a comprehensive pediatric sepsis initiative at Goryeb, including this event, to educate parents and pediatric staff on the early signs and symptoms of sepsis.
