A neonatal intensive care bill addresses part of the problem — but many children die in unprepared ERs

Senator Tom Cotton wants hospitals to warn parents about NICU care— but while his transparency bill is vital, it only scratches the surface: 2,100 kids are dying in unprepared ERs each year.

Our co-founder Phyllis Rabinowitz’s op-ed in The Hill reveals the larger crisis: 83% of hospitals lack proper pediatric readiness. Her daughter Rebecca was misdiagnosed as having "a cold" but died at 9 days old from a life-threatening virus which proper pediatric training could have recognized and treated.

Cotton's bill shows the way—and we urge Congress to extend it to all pediatric emergencies. Achievable, attainable and affordable solutions created by medical experts DO exist.
